Texas Tech University and Women’s Tennis Head Coach Todd Petty have agreed to a contract extension that will run through 2022.

“Todd Petty has done an outstanding job with the women’s tennis program. He is the winningest coach in Texas Tech history and we can’t wait to see what the future holds,” Texas Tech Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt said. “We are very proud of the way Todd has built an elite program and we are confident in the future of Lady Raider Tennis.”

Petty wrapped up his ninth season at the helm of the Lady Raider Tennis program. He has guided the Lady Raiders to national prominence behind three consecutive NCAA Sweet 16 appearances and the program’s first Elite Eight berth.

The three-time Big 12 Coach of the Year (2011, 2012, 2017) and the three-time Wilson/ITA Texas Region Coach of the Year (2012, 2016, 2017) led the Lady Raiders to the third Big 12 Regular Season Championship and the first Big 12 Tournament Championship this year and six straight NCAA tournament bids.

After three consecutive 20-plus win seasons including a program best of 27 wins this season, Petty is the winningest coach in program history.

“I want to thank the Texas Tech administration and Kirby Hocutt for believing in our mission with the women’s tennis program,” Petty said. “I am extremely proud to coach these women on the courts and to be a part of the Red Raider family.”
