The Red Raider baseball team went 2-1 over the weekend in the Houston Shriners’ College Classic, defeating two top ten teams in Houston and Louisiana-Lafayette before losing to 18th ranked Arkansas.

In the lone loss, the Red Raiders jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning before allowing 8 unanswered runs before going on to loss 10-6. On Monday, coach Tim Tadlock addressed the media and discussed what he hopes his team can take away from the weekend in Houston.

“It’s really about playing each pitch and winning innings and winning pitches. And very simply, probably the easiest learned thing would be, where your mind goes on Sunday, when you score 5 in the first. It’s really easy to let your mind go to the end of the game, even if you’re in uniform, you have to remind yourself, hey we have to finish this game out, compete to the last pitch, and I think we did that. I think our effort was good, exexution wasn’t so good. So I think the environment won’t hurt anything down the road either.”
