Texas Tech scored one run in the first inning, but wouldn’t plate another until the ninth in a 6-2 loss to 15th ranked Oklahoma.
Sooners pitcher Dylan Grove dominated the Red Raiders striking out eleven over six innings, only allowing two hits.
John Henry Gonzalez made his first career conference start for Tech, the Freshman was solid giving up three earned runs over four innings.
OU took the lead in the 2nd and would never give it up thanks to Grove. The gut punch came in the bottom of the 8th inning when Caleb Kilian gave up a bases clearing double to make it 6-1.
Cody Farhat would knock in Michael Davis in the top of the 9th to cut the lead to four but it was too little too late for the 2nd ranked team in the country.
Game two starts tomorrow at 2 pm, Steven Gingery will be on the mound looking to even series in Norman.
