The Texas Tech women’s tennis team moved up three spots to No. 5 en route to the program’s highest ranking for the third consecutive Oracle/ Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll released Tuesday by the ITA.
The Lady Raiders (11-1) have pieced together a seven-match winning streak and are in the midst of an extended break during their season. Tech is one of four programs to have both its women’s and men’s program inside the nation’s Top 10 which includes North Carolina, Oklahoma State and Ohio State.
Texas Tech has secured six of its 11 victories over fellow power five conference opponents. The list features Alabama (SEC), Miami (ACC), Illinois (Big 12), Oregon (Pac-12), Washington (Pac-12) and Wisconsin (Big 10).
The Lady Raiders hold the top spot among the three programs from the Big 12 ranked among the Top 25 which includes Oklahoma State (10) and Kansas (23).
The singles and doubles rankings remain unchanged until March 8. Gabriela Talaba possesses a No. 87 singles ranking, while Lynn Kiro and Alex Valenstein check in with a No. 35 doubles ranking.
Texas Tech returns to action with a pair of road matches next weekend at Houston (March 12 – 1 p.m. CT) and Rice (March 13 – 11 a.m. CT).
