For the third consecutive year, Texas Tech has sold out of season tickets for the upcoming baseball season.
The anticipation of the 2017 campaign after winning the Big 12 championship and appearing in the program’s second College World Series in three years has led to more than 2,600 season tickets sold for this upcoming season, setting a new season ticket sales record and leading to a season ticket sell-out for the third-straight year.
“The 2017 season is right around the corner and we are excited to announce that our season ticket sales have sold out for the third year in a row,” head coach Tim Tadlock said. “We have our administration and fans to thank for making our home ballpark one of the best college baseball venues in the country. We have been top 15 in the country in attendance the last few years and aspire to be first in everything and of course we want to create the demand to watch our games that will lead to a packed Rip Griffin Park with ‘Raider Power’ at its finest from the first game to the last.”
The Red Raiders will play 27 games inside the confines of Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park in 2017. Nine of their 18 games against 2016 NCAA Tournament teams will be played in Lubbock, among those included are three College World Series opponents in NCAA runner-up Arizona (March 7), Oklahoma State (April 21-23) and TCU (April 28-30).
Opening day in Lubbock is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 21, against New Mexico State at 2 p.m. The Red Raiders will follow the home opener with a four-game weekend series against California-Berkeley on Feb. 24-26.
