The West Virginia defense proved to be up to the challenge against the high powered Texas Tech offense.

The Mountaineers snapped the Red Raiders streak of nine straight home games scoring 50 points or more, pounding Tech 48-17.

WVU had it’s way the entire day gaining 650 yards of total offense, that included 332 yards on the ground.

Discipline was once again a problem for Texas Tech, the Red Raiders were penalized ten times for 103 yards.

After the game Coach Kingsbury was clearly upset with the effort,

“that’s something we have to talk about with the staff and figure that out quick we got six games left at 3-3 I believe we are a better football team than what was just out there like I said that was the worst thing I’ve ever seen since I’ve been coaching.”

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes echoed that sentiment

“offensively we didn’t run the ball well we didn’t protect well I played probably the worst game I’ve ever played and we didn’t play well enough to win the football game.”

Up next Texas Tech welcomes Oklahoma to the Jones, but plenty to fix before Baker Mayfield and the Sooners visit Lubbock.
