Texas Tech falls to Kansas State 44-38

Speculation was rampant throughout the week about whether or not Patrick Mahomes would play against Kansas State, he did, but Texas Tech fell short with a 44-38 loss.

The Red Raider offense scored 28 points in the first half but could only muster 10 against the Wildcat defense in the second.

Despite the loss Mahomes threw for 504 yards and two touchdowns, he added three TD’s on the ground.

Special teams and penalties hurt Texas Tech according to coach Kilff Kingsbury, “can’t have a special teams touchdown, you give up nine penalties for 100 yards then give up a defensive touchdown and win here, it’s just not going to happen.”

Texas Tech is now 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Big 12, they welcome West Virginia to the Jones next Saturday.
