Quinton White scored on a one yard touchdown run that looked to tie the game, unfortunately Clayton Hatfield’s extra point sailed wide right handing the Red Raiders their 6th loss of the season.
Upon further review it looked as if Cam Batson’s hold led to the missed extra point.
The special teams unit came up with some big plays despite the missed PAT, Texas Tech executed a successful fake punt and onside kick.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 344 yards and 3 touchdowns, he added two TD’s on the ground. The offense gained a total of 518 yards on the day.
Coach Kingsbury said missed opportunities led to the loss,
“we asked them to fight and we fought we got to find ways to finish those games it didn’t come down to that kick we should of had a lead and found a way to win.”
Texas Tech is now 4-6, 2-5 in the conference and needs to beat Iowa State and Baylor in order to become bowl eligible.
