Texas Tech watched Texas ended Tuesday’s game on a 30-10 run and end the Red Raiders stay at the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City.
The Longhorns took the lead for the first time with 5:31 remaining and never looked back in their 61-52 first round win over the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech led by as many as eleven points in the first half but went without a field goal the final 5:08 and allowed Texas to pull within six at the break.
Anthony Livingston scored ten points in the first ten minutes of the second half and help the Red Raiders extend their lead to 42-31 with 10:38 remaining but it wasn’t enough.
The Longhorns answered with an 18-2 run and went on to win their first game away from Austin all season.
The Red Raiders have now lost their first game of the Big 12 Tournament for a fourth-straight year.
Texas Tech (18-14) now waits to see if it will receive an invite to NIT.
