Allen Fieldhouse was a place that Texas Tech had never won in 16 tries, and they will have to wait until next year to get another shot, as Tech fell to No. 3 Kansas, 85-68.

The Red Raiders trailed by 10 points at the half, but made it as close as a five-point game in the second half, with 8:19 to play. However, the Jayhawks would end the game on a 25-13 run.

Tech shot a whopping 28 three pointers from the field, and finished 11-of-28 (39.3%) from deep. The Red Raiders lived by the three, jacking up 28 three-point attempts out of 59 field goal attempts overall, which accounted for 47.4% of their shots.

The Red Raiders were led in scoring by senior forward Aaron Ross and junior forward Zach Smith who both finished with 17 points. Ross also chipped in five rebounds and two assists, while Smith added seven rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots and four turnovers.

Tech finished the night 24-of-59 (40.7%) from the field, which is almost eleven points below their season field-goal percentage average (51.4%).

Texas Tech returns home, and is back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 10 when they host Kansas State at 8:15 p.m. CT at the United Supermarkets Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPNews as well as the WatchESPN App.
