Texas Tech softball fell, 4-0, to No. 7 Oklahoma Saturday afternoon in game two of the Red Raiders’ three-game series against the Sooners at the OU Softball Complex.
The Red Raiders got off to a very strong defensive start against the seventh-ranked Sooners (44-7), holding Oklahoma to just four hits through the first three innings of play.
The Sooner offense would come to life in the fourth as OU would connect on their first of two homers of the afternoon as Lea Wodach blasted a two-run shot to center to give the Sooners a 2-0 advantage heading to the fifth.
Following a three-up, three-down top of the fifth, the Sooners added two more runs on three hits in the fifth to carry a 4-0 lead into the final two innings of play.
Oklahoma ace, Paige Parker, continued her dominant performance with a scoreless sixth and seventh to close out the Sooners’ 4-0 victory.
With the loss, the Red Raiders fell to 23-31 on the season, including a 6-11 mark in Big 12 play. The loss also dropped the Red Raiders to 7-41 all-time against the Sooners, including a 4-21 mark in games played in Norman.
Saturday’s game represented the lowest scoring affair between the two teams since the 2012 season that saw the Sooners top the Red Raiders 3-1.
Texas Tech will be back in action for their final game of the 2016 season Sunday afternoon as the Red Raiders will face No. 7 Oklahoma in the final game of the three-game series against the Sooners. First pitch for Sunday’s game is slated for 3 p.m. CT.
