At the end of non-conference play, the Big 12 looks as wide open as it’s been in years.
Texas Tech opens conference play on Thursday night, knowing this is when you make your money.
However, it will start against a Kansas Jayhawks team that Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury said was his team’s most disappointing performance of last season.
It was a comedy of errors as Tech escaped with a 30-20 win in Lawrence, KS. One that included Tech’s then sophomore quarterback Patrick Mahomes to running for his life for most of the game.
After the contest, Kingsbury was quoted as saying:
“We were lucky to win the game. Guys got nervous and we just all choked on that side of the ball.”
At Monday’s weekly press conference, Red Raider Nation asked Kingsbury if this was a game that they were taking personally, and we received a resounding answer.
Yeah, if anybody was there, which they probably were and watched that, it was unenergetic, it was bad coaching, bad playing offensively,” Kingsbury said. “The defense played great. Offensively, it was a joke. So we have been working hard to try and correct that this year.”
