Top 5: Texas Tech’s Most Important Games of 2016

Kliff Kingsbury enters his fourth season as the head football coach at Texas Tech with what he claims is his best team yet. Below is Red Raider Nation’s rankings of their “Top 5” most important games of 2016:

#5 Arizona State

In Kliff Kingsbury’s inaugural season as the Red Raiders head man, Tech cruised to a 37-23 “W” over the Sun Devils to close out his first year in the Hub City, 8-5.
Now three years later, Tech opens a home-and-home series in Tempe with PAC 12/Big 12 bragging rights on the line.
and arguably their most dangerous obstacle from keeping a clean sheet through their first six games.

#4 Oklahoma State

For the last seven seasons the Cowboys have had the Red Raiders number. Tech hasn’t taken down the Pokes since ’08
and they haven’t beaten OSU in Stillwater, since 2001, when Harry Potter first hit theaters, and Kingsbury had frosted tips.

#3 TCU

Last season there were 82 reasons why the Red Raiders wanted another shot at the Frogs, and now there are just three more.

Aaron Greene’s catch pierced the soul of every Red Raider fan last season
Four years into the league, TCU and Tech have split the four meetings.
But the Raiders head to Amon G. Carter this fall hoping to tilt the score back in their favor.

#2 Texas
The Raiders are coming off their first win over the Horns in Austin since 1997!
Even though the shine has worn off of the Texas brand in recent years, you’ve got to win your home games.
Plus, with Charlie Strong’s seat feeling hot, Tech could give him the final boot out the door on the 40 acres.

#1 Oklahoma

It’s the day every Tech fan world wide has been waiting for, Baker Mayfield’s return to the 8-0-6.
The former Red Raider has come a long way since leaving the South Plains, but his return will cause an atmosphere he’s likely has never experienced in his life.
They all say the right things when the cameras are on, but the bad blood is real.
and I can assure you Kingsbury would love nothing more than to take down what could possibly a playoff contending Sooners squad, with his former protege leading the way.
