After a 16 day layoff the Wayland Baptist Pioneers showed signs of rust in a 48-27 loss to Sul Ross State. The Pioneers turned the ball over six times in this game, on top of that Wayland was missing star linebacker Alden Mann and starting QB Payson Bain.

Bain was injured on the second series of the game, back up quarterback Mitchell Parsley came in for relief.

Special teams miscues also played a roll in the loss, in the first half Sul Ross blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown.

Wayland welcomes Howard Payne (0-2) for homecoming next week, that game is at 2 pm next Saturday.
