Texas Tech was unable to hold onto a two-run ninth inning lead in Friday’s 12-7 extra inning loss to West Virginia.
The Mountaineers tied the game in the top of the ninth when Jackson Cramer singled to right. Cramer came all the way around to score when the ball went under the glove of Ryan Long and rolled to the wall.
West Virginia took its first lead in the top of the tenth inning and went onto score six runs in the frame.
The Red Raiders scored one run in the bottom of the tenth and loaded the bases before grounding into a double play to end the game and tournament for Texas Tech.
The No. 3 Red Raiders return home and now await Monday’s NCAA Selection Show. Texas Tech will also find out if its among the top eight national seeds on Sunday. If the Red Raiders are selected as a national seed they will be guaranteed to host a regional and super regional if they were to advance.
