The Lubbock High Westerner softball team has won three of their last four district games, and done it in convincing fashion.

After a 1-0 win over Abilene Cooper in 11 innings, the Westerners have defeated the Cooper Lady Pirates and San Angelo Lake View by a combined score of 17-1. Head coach Sherri Culwell hopes that these recent stretch shows her team that success is possible, if they focus on the details.

“They can do anything they want to as long as they put their mind to it,” said Culwell. “And not to panic, you know, everyone is going to make a mistake. If you look at baseball and softball, it’s a failure game. And we got to, we’re going to fail our way to success. And they’ve got to realize not to panic when we do have an error or maybe their at bat is not the one that they want, but their teammate is going to pick them up and I think if we just build on that and just relax and have fun, there’s nothing that these kiddos can’t do.”

Lubbock High will be back in action on Friday when they visit Abilene Cooper.
