The Texas Tech Women’s Tennis Team earned a 4-0 sweep over Rice Sunday afternoon.

Texas Tech (9-3) took a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point to open the match. The Owls (8-3) picked up a 6-3 win on court two. Doubles duo Sabrina Federici and Sarah Dvorak took down Rice’s Wendy Zhang and Lindsey Hodge, 6-4, before Alex Valenstein and Alba Cortina-Pou clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Savannah Durkin and Katherine Ip.

In singles play, junior Gabriela Talaba took a two-set win over Zhang (6-4, 6-1) on court one to put the Lady Raiders ahead 2-0 in the match. Sophomore Felicity Maltby followed with a 6-3, 6-3 victory on court two over Rice’s Hodge to push the lead to 3-0.

After a slow start, junior Sabrina Federici came back to take set one, 7-6 (7-3), before a commanding set two win (6-2) over Rice’s Alison Ho to complete the sweep.
