After two Top 10 wins at the ITA National Indoor Championships, the Texas Tech Women’s Tennis team jumped up to No. 7 in the latest Oracle/ITA Division I rankings.

The Lady Raiders also jumped up to No. 7 in the second USTA College Tennis Top 25.

Texas Tech is one of three Big 12 teams in the ITA list and one of four league teams on the USTA Top 25.  Oklahoma State ranks No. 6 in the ITA rankings and tied for fifth in the USTA rankings.

Last weekend, the Lady Raiders defeated No. 9 Vanderbilt, 4-2, in the opening round of the ITA National Indoor Championships, earning a spot in the quarterfinals.

After dropping a 4-1 decision to No. 1 Florida in the quarterfinals, the Lady Raiders swept No. 3 Pepperdine, 4-0, in the quarterfinal consolation match.

The win marked the highest ranked win for the women’s tennis program.

Sophomore Felicity Maltby led the team with two Top 25 singles wins and two Top 30 wins in doubles play with teammate Gabriela Talaba. Maltby was named the Big 12 Player of the Week for her outstanding performance.
