Believe it or not, Lubbock has multiple locally owned specialty outdoor and sporting good stores any adventurer would love.
The Outdoorsman and Mountain Hideaway have both been in business for more than 20 years, bringing hiking and camping advice to locals in one of the flattest parts of Texas.
Mountain Hideaway Assistant Manager Nick Tidwell said their store has all the hiking and camping gear you’ll need whether you’re spending time in Palo Duro or traveling to another state.
“We have all the right stuff you’ll need for going into the wilderness for an extended period of time,” Tidwell said.
The Outdoorsman Manager Anna Johnson said they have lots of clothing and shoes perfect for new hikers.
“Really if you’re an introductory hiker and you want to hike Palo Duro, we’ve got products that can help you with that,” Johnson said.
Beyond all of the gear and clothing items, Tidwell says, the most important part of the journey is making sure you’re enjoying the experience.
“We always like to talk about what your next adventure is,” Tidwell said, “and we’ll always have ideas if you need some for where to go next.”
