Happy Friday everyone! It has been another cool day across the South Plains with highs in the low 50’s. There will be a slight chance of rain across the region on Saturday afternoon as well as Sunday evening. Thankfully temperatures will rebound back into the upper 50’s and low 60’s for the holiday weekend making it a bit more comfortable for the New Year’s celebrations. Keep in mind that winds will be breezy throughout the weekend making it very easy for fires to start and spread so try to refrain from shooting off fireworks this weekend. We will start out the new year warm and sunny but by Thursday we will see the effects of a strong arctic air mass and temperatures will plummet back into the 30’s for our highs and we may see a slight chance for snow.
