Happy Tuesday everyone! It was a slightly cooler day across the South Plains, but temperatures still remained above average by 10-15 degrees. This will remain the case on Tuesday and Wednesday as well with more sunshine expected. However, a weak backdoor cold front will push into the region on Thursday night late through Friday morning, bringing a drastic drop in temperatures and a chance for some precipitation. Timing of this precipitation has shifted, now starting Friday afternoon as rain and then transitioning over to sleet and freezing rain overnight and into Saturday morning. This pattern will continue with liquid rain expected again on Saturday late morning through early evening and then turning back into frozen precipitation Saturday night into Sunday morning. Another strong front will slide across the South Plains on Sunday allowing for more precipitation throughout the remainder of the weekend. Thankfully temperatures will rebound next week and we have more sunshine in the forecast!
