January 14th, 2017 Evening Weather

Happy Saturday everyone!! It has been a very cold and dreary day today.  We saw decent amounts of rainfall accompanied by dense fog throughout the day. This pattern will continue through tomorrow! Tonight the rain will continue along with a chance of freezing rain in the northern counties!

We move into the Slight Risk Category for severe storms on Sunday for the Southeastern South Plains. Large hail and damaging wind gusts will be the biggest threats. The time frame will be early Sunday afternoon through the late evening hours on Sunday.

The other issue we are forecasting for the next two days, especially on Sunday, is localized flooding throughout the South Plains. Remember, if you see pooling water, turn around, don’t drown!

Also, for the next two days, park under cover, if possible, to avoid hail damage, move anything indoors that could get blown around, turn off your sprinklers, and drive with caution!

As we move into Monday sunny skies will return bringing much nicer weather. High temperatures will be in the 50’s with lows in the 30’s Monday and Tuesday. The high temperatures then warm up to the 60’s for the rest of the week!  By Saturday a slight chance of rain moves back into the forecast!
