Meteorologist Alex O’Brien tracks the rain in this week’s forecast:

**UPDATE** As of 8 am CT the NWS in Lubbock has issued a flash flood watch for the following counties: Parmer-Castro-Swisher-Briscoe-Bailey-Lamb-Hale-Floyd-Cochran-Hockley-Lubbock-Crosby-Yoakum-Terry-Lynn-Garza until Tues morning. The flash flood watch including Curry and Roosevelt counties in New Mexico is still in effect all day Monday.

TODAY: Rounds of heavy rain soaked the south plains this morning. The rainfall will subside late this morning briefly before another round of storms initiate west and south of Lubbock. Overcast skies and widespread rain will limit warming today to the low 80’s. Expect storm totals this afternoon up to 1-3″ localized. 

TOMORROW: Expect rain chances lessened to a 40% chance in the afternoon. Temperatures will be very cool, reaching the upper 70’s to low 80’s across the south plains.
