KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 1.10.18.

TODAY: A WIND ADVISORY is in place for the Texas South Plains (on the caprock) today. Winds will be sustained between 30-35 mph with gusts 45-55 mph. Blowing dust may reduce visibility.

A HIGH WIND WARNING is in effect for Eastern New Mexico today. Winds will be sustained between 30-40 mph with gusts 50-60 mph.

Aside from the winds, there will be some passing clouds, but temperatures will reach the upper 60s and low 70s from the warm, down-sloping wind. A fire danger statement in the region warns of critical fire danger today as well.

TOMORROW: The cold front from this system will turn winds to the north and they remain breezy for Thursday. Colder air will move in behind this front and highs will be in the upper 40s. There is an isolated, short lived chance for rain showers early Thursday morning, with the frontal passage, especially north of Lubbock.
