KAMC HD Storm Team Weather Webcast 10.3.18

KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 10.3.18.

TODAY: The heat this week peaks with highs either near or at 90 degrees. The forecast high for Lubbock is 90 degrees. Thankfully, we won’t be near the standing record of 100 degrees. For afternoon sports, jogs, or dog walking, make sure to stay hydrated and wear sunscreen! Winds will be breezy from the south today, gusting up to 20 mph.

TOMORROW: Thursday will be nearly as hot in the upper 80s. The forecast for Lubbock is 88 degrees. Southerly breezy winds continue from the south. The weather pattern is set to shift through the weekend, and we get our first taste of those changes with a 20% chance of spotty thunderstorms Thursday afternoon. Impacts will be minimal from these storms, with brief heavy rain and non-severe wind gusts possible.

LOOKING AHEAD: Friday expect mid 80s, and another round of spotty evening thunderstorms. The rain increases in coverage and duration on Saturday as a front approaches the South Plains. Temperatures will cool to the mid to upper 70s this weekend. There is a 40% chance showers Saturday and 30% chance Sunday. Pockets of heavy rain are possible this weekend.
