TODAY: Temperatures will be the week’s “warmest” today, from 50°-55° in the South Plains. The forecast for Lubbock is 52°. Winds will be slightly breezy from the south, 10-15 mph. The sky will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy.
TOMORROW: The first sign of changing weather comes Thursday with a cold front. Winds will turn northerly and clouds will build in. There will be a wide temperature spread Thursday from the low 40s in Plainview, mid 40s for Lubbock and the central South Plains, to 50s south.
WINTER STORM*: A WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued from Thursday at 6 pm until Saturday at noon for Bailey, Briscoe, Castro, Cochran, Cottle, Crosby, Dickens, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hall, Hockley, Kent, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Motley, Parmer, Swisher, Terry, and Yoakum counties. Starting Thursday night and continuing Friday, a mix of rain and freezing rain is likely. Ice accumulations of 0.25″-0.50″ are possible. Rain will transition to snow by Saturday morning. Snow totals from a dusting to 2″ are possible, heaviest north.
