KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 12.15.17.
TODAY: Seasonable weather is forecasted today, with a cold start in the 20s and highs in the 50s. There should be plenty of sunshine today and winds will be light.
THIS WEEKEND: For Saturday, the forecast high is 59 degrees after a subfreezing start. Winds will be strong through the afternoon sustained between 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. This wind will be ahead of a cold front set to impact the area by Sunday. Temperatures on Sunday will be cooler by about 5 degrees and more clouds will move in. There is a 20% chance of precipitation as well, late on Sunday night into early Monday morning. At this point, we are expecting light accumulations. Whether it will be snow or rain greatly depends on timing and temperatures. The most likely outcome at this point will be rainfall as temperatures hover above freezing. Wet or icy pavement for your Monday morning commute deserves a more cautious drive.
