KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 12.20.18.

TODAY: A cold front moved in overnight and will bring in breezy winds this morning through the late afternoon. Wind gusts in the 30 mph range are likely, favoring the central and eastern South Plains. Winds will calm after the dinner hour. Temperatures today will be slightly above average in the 50s, up to 56° in Lubbock. The sky will be clear today. Relative humidity will drop to the teens-% this afternoon, leading to elevated fire danger. Dispose of cigarettes properly, and be mindful of any outdoor burning today.

TOMORROW: Friday will be quite warm, upper 60s and low 70s are likely for the South Plains. Winds will be breezy again, favoring the western South Plains and eastern New Mexico.

LOOKING AHEAD: This weekend a couple weak fronts will impact temperatures, leaving Lubbock with a high of 57° Saturday and 51° Sunday. By Christmas, warmer weather is likely with highs back in the 60s. Travel conditions will be good through the holiday.
