KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 2.11.19.
TODAY: Wind and fire danger will dominate the forecast today. A RED FLAG WARNING is in place for most of the region today. Relative humidity will drop to less than 15% this afternoon. A HIGH WIND WARNING and WIND ADVISORY have also been issued for strong winds, gusting to 60 mph for Lubbock county and west, and to 50 mph east of Lubbock. Hazards include, strong crosswinds on north-south oriented roadways and reduced visibility due to blowing dust.
Temperatures today will be warm, to the low 60s on the Caprock and upper 60s in the Rolling Plains. The forecast for Lubbock is 63° with a clearing sky.
TOMORROW: Expect nother warm day tomorrow, from the upper 50s to low 60s area-wide. The sky will be sunny and the winds will be calm. Enjoy time outside on Tuesday!
THIS WEEK: Temperatures climb Wednesday and Thursday to the upper 60s and low 70s, while winds also pick back up. Thursday will be particularly windy, with 40 mph gusts likely. A minor cold front knocks temperatures back Friday, but we stay near average. This weekend expect 60s and partly cloudy conditions.
