KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 2.14.19.
TODAY: Happy Valentine’s Day! It will be a warm and windy day, with a high of 78° in Lubbock. Expect upper 70s on the Caprock, and low 80s in the Rolling Plains today. West-northwest winds will be downsloping and becoming quite gusty today. Expect sustained winds 15-30 mph, with especially strong winds west of I-27 and HWY 87. But if you have dinner plans with your Valentine, the wind will calm down this evening and temperatures will be in the 60s at dinner time.
TOMORROW: Another warm and windy day is likely Friday! The forecast for Lubbock is 74 degrees. Wind will be from the west, 10-30 mph. The sky will be mostly sunny on Friday with a few high clouds.
LOOKING AHEAD: This weekend starts with warmth and likely critical fire danger on Saturday. Highs temperatures Saturday will be in the upper 60s. Winds will be strong, with blowing dust expected. By Sunday the winds die down and temperatures begin to cool to the 50s. 40s are expected Monday and Tuesday will be cold in the upper 30s. There is a 10% chance of flurries Tuesday morning.
