KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 2.18.19.
TODAY: It is a chilly start to the week, with high temperatures near 20 degrees below average. The forecast for Lubbock is 40 today, with upper 30s likely for Plainview, and mis 40s south of Lubbock. The sky will be partly cloudy and winds will be slightly breezy from the southeast. Tonight will be cold, to the teens and 20s with increasing cloud cover.
TOMORROW: By early Tuesday morning, the Storm Team is watching for snowfall which tapers off through the early afternoon. For your morning commute, especially for Lubbock and areas north, reduced visibility due to snow and icy roads due to freezing drizzle is possible. Take it slow in these impacted areas. Snow accumulations will be minimal for most, up to an inch for isolated spots in the northern South Plains. Temperatures will rise above freezing in the afternoon, but stay in the 30s.
THIS WEEK: Temperatures rebound quickly, with 50s Wednesday and Thursday. Friday highs will be seasonable in the low 60s, with a 10% chance of isolated showers. This weekend remains near average, in the mid 50s to low 60s.
Send me your snow photos if you see accumulations!
