KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 3.13.19.

OVERNIGHT: A line of strong thunderstorms, with some severe wind gusts brought soaking rain overnight. Storm damage is being reported all across the region, with images of debris coming in from Anton. Law enforecement reports a “steel structure destroyed” in Dimmitt. In Lynn county, winds overturned a semi on HWY 87 and damage to structure and power lines are being reported. The National Weather Service will be surveying damage in Anton and Dimmitt this morning.

TODAY: Hazards will be exacerbated today with longer duration strong winds. A HIGH WIND WARNING has been issued for the entire region, where southwest winds will be sustained between 40-50 mph and gusting up to 70 mph. The peak winds will be from 3-6 pm, but this warning is in place from 10 am until 10 pm. Blowing dust will cause poor air quality and reduce visibility. North-south oriented roads will experience dangerous crosswinds. Secure lightweight outdoor items. Periodic power outages are possible.

LOOKING AHEAD: The winds calm overnight and a cold front will keep Thursday cooler, in the middle 50s with sunshine. The rest of the week will be much more calm with warming conditions into the weekend.
