KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 3.7.19.
TODAY: A warm day is ahead! Breezy southwest winds will pick up over 20 mph this afternoon, and bring warm air with it. Highs will climb to the 70s by lunch and then low 80s this evening. The forecast for Lubbock is 81°. The sky will be partly cloudy. Tonight, temperatures will drop to the 40s.
TOMORROW: Friday will be mostly cloudy and temperatures will reach the low 70s. There will be a slight breeze again, from the southwest. There is a 10% chance of rain in the evening and overnight, with light accumulations possible.
LOOKING AHEAD: The weekend starts breezy and sunny on Saturday with highs in the mid 60s. Sunday we will start to see changes, with clouds returning and temperatures cooling to the low 60s. The first chance of rain and thunderstorms comes as early as Sunday evening, and that potential increases greatly from Monday into Tuesday. Scattered to widespread showers are increasing in possibility early next week. Especially those who see thunderstorms will see decent rain totals, which is perfect on our drought stricken soil. We will continue to monitor this system in the weather lab, keep it with KAMC.
