KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 4.12.19.

TODAY: A comfortable Friday is in store after a chilly start. Highs will make it to the 60s for most, with low 70s south. The forecast for Lubbock is 66°. Clouds will increase through the day, leaving mostly cloudy conditions. Tonight, thunderstorms are likely, especially in the southeast portion of the area. Some storms may be strong, with hail and heavy rain. Overnight, moderate rain expands across the eastern half of the South Plains.

THIS WEEKEND: Saturday will be quite gray and chilly. Widespread rain showers will expand across the entire South Plains in the morning, then gradually clear to the east through the afternoon. Most activity will be cold rain, but a wintry mix is possible. The Storm Team does not expect snow accumulations as temperatures will stay in the upper 30s and 40s. Overnight a freeze is expected, and some wet roads may become icy Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon will be sunny and in the 70s.
