RED FLAG WARNING: This is in place region wide from 11 am – 12 pm. Relative humidity will be less than 5%. Wind will be strong and fuels are extremely dry. Outdoor burning is not allowed. 

WIND ADVISORY: Yoakum, Terry, Lynn, Garza, Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock, Crosby, Dickens, King, Bailey, Lamb, Hale, Floyd, Motley, Cottle, Prmer, Castro, Swisher, Briscoe, Hall, and Lea counties are under this advisory from 12 pm – 10 pm. Winds will be sustained 25-35 mph with wind gusts to 50 mph. Hazards include patchy blowing dust. Curry and Roosevelt counties are under a high wind warning, with gusts up to 60 mph.

TODAY: The fire danger will be extreme today. Expect a hot and windy day with highs in the 90s. The forecast for Lubbock is 92 degrees. Most of the South Plains will make it to near 90 degrees, with mid 90s possible off the caprock. This evening a cold front eases its way to our region. Overnight lows will drop to the upper 40s and low 50s. 

TOMORROW: With the help of the incoming front, temperatures will be in the low 70s Wednesday. The forecast high is 73 in Lubbock. Wind will be much lighter and from the northeast. The sun will be out as well!
