KAMC HD Storm Team Weather Webcast 4.18.18

KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 4.18.18.

TODAY: Thanks to a cold front overnight, today will be calmer and cooler. High temperatures will be 20 degrees lower than yesterday. The forecast high for Lubbock is 73 degrees, with upper 60s and low 70s for the South Plains. The wind will be light today, 12-18 mph, from the northeast. Tonight temperatures will drop to the mid 40s.

TOMORROW: The wind will turn to the southeast Thursday and gradually usher in higher humidity. The sky will be mostly sunny with a few clouds. Temperatures will stay in the low to mid 70s, with a forecast high of 74 in Lubbock. An incoming low pressure system will increase storm chances through the end of the week. On Thursday evening, a dryline will set up and spark thunderstorms into central and eastern New Mexico. There is a 10% chance of some of those storms to make it to the South Plains.

FRIDAY: Better moisture and rain chances will be welcomed to our region Friday. The storm system and dryline gradually progress east through the day. The sky will be overcast through most of the afternoon, keeping temperatures in the 60s. Then scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon. Severe weather potential remains low, but some storms may have lightning and gusty wind.
