KAMC HD Storm Team Weather Webcast 4.22.19

KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 4.22.19.

TODAY: Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this evening, with heavy rain continuing overnight. Before the rain comes, the sky will be mostly cloudy today with seasonable temperatures in the mid 70s. The forecast high for Lubbock is 76°. An upcoming low pressure system to our west, plus a cold front today will provide lift for showers and thunderstorms. Starting between 4-5 pm in the southwest South Plains, isolated thunderstorms will develop. These storms may have hail over an inch in diameter, storng wind gusts over 60 mph, and an isolated tornado is possible. These storms will move to the northeast through the evening, impacting Lubbock around dinner time and after sunset. Eventually these storms will become more widespread and non-severe as they travel towards the northeast corner overnight.


TOMORROW: The rain continues Tuesday. Scattered showers are possible in the morning, and then again in the afternoon, but will be non-severe. A rainy, cloudy and cool Tuesday is in store. High temperatures will make it to the low 60s.

THIS WEEK: Rain ends by Wednesday afternoon, and 3 day totals may exceed 2 inches is local spots. Widespread 1 inch totals are possible. This will be a beneficial, soaking rain for the region. Then the week will end with sunny and warm weather. This weekend will be sunny, in the upper 80s and low 90s.
