4.30.18: SEVERE WEATHER ALERT DAY

TODAY: Temperatures will reach the low to mid 80s today with a partly cloudy sky. There is a 30% chance of thunderstorms, some severe, in the central and eastern South Plains today. A dryline will set up in our region, sparking thunderstorms around the 4 pm hour, likely along the I27 corridor. Storms will move east-northeast across the South Plains. These storms will likely remain isolated with the potential for hail up to 2″ in diameter. Strong wind over 58 mph is also possible. Showers will move out of the region by 10-11 pm. Stay weather aware today and make sure you have a method to receive severe thunderstorm warnings.

TOMORROW: Tuesday will start mild in the 60s. The dryline will still remain in our region but progress further east through the day. Temperatures will be even warmer in the upper 80s. The forecast for Lubbock is 88 degrees. There is still a 10% chance of thunderstorms in the central South Plains tomorrow, and a 20% chance of storms east of the Caprock. The severe weather threat will be minimal.
