KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 4.6.18.

TODAY: Temperatures will rise nicely by mid day to the low 80s across most of the South Plains. But a cold front is making its way to region. The northeast South Plains will feel the impacts first by around 3 pm, then arrive in the Lubbock area by dinner time. The front continues to push southwest through the overnight. Initially, this front brings strong wind, with 40 mph wind gusts and blowing dust possible. Then, a Canadian air-mass follows behind the front. Temperatures may reach the low 30s and upper 20s tonight.

Yoakum, Terry, Lynn, Garza, Kent, Hockley, Lubbock, Crosby, Dickens, Kinga, Hale, Floyd, Motley, Cottle, Briscoe, and Hall counties are under a FREEZE WATCH Friday night into Saturday morning.

THIS WEEKEND: By Saturday, we will stay mostly cloudy and temperatures will struggle to warm up. Highs will be in the 50s and low 60s Saturday afternoon. The rollercoaster ride continues Sunday as temperatures climb back the mid to upper 80s. With this rapid warm up, winds are expected to be breezy Sunday, just under 30 mph.
