KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 5.1.18.

TODAY: The dryline is still in place this morning leaving relative humidity values around 80% to start the day. But then dryline will move east through the region this afternoon leaving humidity down to 10%. The temperatures are expected to rise to the 80s and 90s, warmer to the east. The forecast for Lubbock is 89 degrees and mostly sunny. Wind will be from the southwest 15-25 mph. Due to the dry air and breeze, a RED FLAG WARNING is in place for the western South Plains. Late tonight the dryline moves back west. This humidity paired with a weak disturbance in the upper atmosphere may prompt isolated showers after midnight, ending by morning.

TOMORROW: Wednesday morning starts mild again in the 60s before another warm afternoon. The forecast high for Lubbock is 88 with partly cloudy conditions. The dryline will be in our region one last day this week and set up just off the Caprock. The eastern Rolling Plains has a slight to enhanced risk of severe weather with a 30% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. On the Caprock, rain chances will be 10-20% in the afternoon.
