KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 5.21.18.

TODAY: Highs today will make it to the upper 70s and low 80s. Morning clouds will clear out this afternoon and the sunshine will lead to a dinner-time high temperature of 81 degrees in Lubbock. The wind will be out of the southeast 10-15 mph, and that wind flow will keep dewpoints in the 50s anf 60s. The dryline will set up in central New Mexico and initiate storms there. Those storms will likely hold together and impact the South Plains overnight between about midnight and 6 am. From Clovis to Hobbs and into the western Texas South Plains expect some possible hail and heavy rain. Then the storms will lose strength as they move into the Lubbock area very early Tuesday morning.

TOMORROW: Tuesday morning may bring some light rain before we clear out by midday. There is a 20% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon for most of the region, and they will be isolated and spotty in nature. Small hail is possible with a few stronger storms tomorrow. Temperatures will stay below average again in the upper 70s and low 80s.

THIS WEEK: We stay in the 80s with afternoon rain chances through Wednesday. Then, we will dry up and warm up into the weekend. 90s return to the forecast by Thursday. The weekend ahead will be in the mid 90s with sunshine.
