KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast 5.24.18.
TODAY: Say goodbye to the 80s! We begin our heating trend today, with a forecast high of 90 degrees in Lubbock. Expect upper 80s and low 90s for the region. Wind will be from the south 10-15 mph today with clear to partly cloudy sky conditions. There is a limited rain chance today at 10% for a few showers near dinner time and the late evening. There is no severe weather threat today.
TOMORROW: More warmth and sunshine is expected by Friday. The forecast high for Lubbock is 96 degrees. A ridge of high pressure will impact the region which will increase the heat and dry air. Winds will be out of the southwest 10-15 mph.
THIS WEEKEND: A HOT Memorial Day Weekend is ahead. Temperatures will range in the upper 90s to low 100s each day of the extended holiday weekend. It will be a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. But make sure to stay hydrated and protected from the sun. Also there is a limited lightning and rain chance Sunday and Monday, so if you are on the water make sure to be aware of lightning.
