KAMC HD Storm Team Weather Webcast 5.28.18.

TODAY: Today we remember fallen soldiers on this Memorial Day. If you are heading outdoors expect a hot afternoon. The forecast high for Lubbock is 99 degrees. Temperatures will be hotter the further south you are today and a HEAT ADVISORY is in effect for Borden and Scurry counties until 8 pm for triple digit highs. The day will be mostly sunny and dry, but there is a 10% chance of thunderstorms. For the northeast South Plains there is a marginal to slight risk of severe weather, with the possibility of a few isolated thunderstorms. A dryline will set up along the I-27 corridor this afternoon, with the most storm activity likely in the panhandle. The storms will travel nearly due east through the early evening, and end after sunset. Keep your eyes to the sky if you are outdoors or in the water.

TOMORROW: The heat and sun stay with us. Expect the day to be clear with highs in the triple digits for most of the region. Unfortunately a ridge of high pressure will stay put keeping us dry and hot. The forecast high for Lubbock is 100 degrees Tuesday. Overnight temperatures will be warm in the low 70s.

THIS WEEK: The heat will be relentless for the entire week ahead, with multiple days of possible record breaking heat in the triple digits. Practice heat safety by limiting your time outside, and if you are outside protect yourself with sunscreen, light clothing, and shade.
