KAMC HD Storm Team Weather Webcast 5.29.18

KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 5.29.18.

TODAY: Triple digits return to the South Plains today. Lubbock’s forecast high is 100 degrees with a sunny sky. Winds will be out of the southwest 15-20 mph. The north and west South Plains will be cooler in the 90s, while the east and south portions of our area will reach the 100 degree mark. Overnight temperatures will be cool, in the 60s.

TOMORROW: A potential record breaking day is in the forecast Wednesday. The high in Lubbock is forecast at 103 degrees, with the previous record set at 103 in 1998. The heat will travel further north tomorrow, with triple digits likely as far north as Plainview and west as Littlefield. The sky will be mostly sunny with light wind out of the southwest.

THIS WEEK: Triple digits continue through Friday. We will be watching for potential heat advisory criteria Wednesday through Friday. Never leave a child or animal in a parked car unattended; be sure to double and triple check before leaving your car. Also, drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen this week! Lubbock city pools open today and it is shaping up to be a perfect week to cool down in the water.
