KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 5.30.18.

TODAY: Yes, it is going to be another hot day. But, today the temperatures will reach levels that may be dangerous to your health. A HEAT ADVISORY is in place from 1 to 8 pm for Lubbock, Crosby, Terry, Lynn, Garza, Gaines, Dawson, Borden, and Scurry counties. Temperatures will reach near or above 105 degrees today. Hazards include heat related illness, especially for elderly and children. The forecast for Lubbock is 104 degrees, but some spots in the city may reach 105 degrees. Winds will be light from the southwest and the sky will be clear. We will likely break a temperaturer record today; the previous record high is 103 degrees, set in 1998.

TOMORROW: Another day of dangerous heat is likely. The forecast is 105 in Lubbock, which would also break the previous record of 102 degrees. Another heat advisory may be needed by tomorrow, we will keep you advised. To stay safe from the heat, take breaks in the shade, stay hydrated, and protect yourself from the sun with hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
