KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 6.7.18.
TODAY: Temperatures today will reach the upper 90s and low 100s. The forecast high is 101 degrees in Lubbock. Expect mostly sunny conditions until about 4 pm, when there is a 20% chance of thunderstorms. The storms will start in the central South Plains and move east and southeast through the evening. There is a low level severe weather threat today with the potential for hail 1 inch in diameter and winds gusts over 58 mph. Overnight, clouds clear out and temperatures will drop to the 70s.
TOMORROW: Friday will look similar to Thursday, only a few degrees cooler. The forecast high in Lubbock is 98 degrees. There is a 20% chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon, with a low level severe weather threat.
THIS WEEKEND: The weekend ahead will be mostly dry and warm. Temperatures will be suppressed a bit, to the middle 90s both Saturday and Sunday.
