KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 7.12.18.
TODAY: Today will feel very summer-like with highs in the 90s for most of the region. The forecast high for Lubbock is 95 today. There is a 10% chance of rain for the South Plains region today, increasing to 20% tonight. There are two areas we are watching to help with rain potential today. The first being an area of extra humidity and moisture expected to impact north Texas today and gradually move west, which will increase rain chances for the eastern half of the South Plains. Second, to the west, monsoon rain continues in New Mexico and some showers may cross the state line into the South Plains tonight.
TOMORROW: With daytime heating and some humidity lingering, there is a chance for showers on Friday, remaining isolated. The forecast high for Lubbock is 94 with low to mid 90s expected for our region.
THIS WEEKEND: We will dry out gradually through the weekend. The sky will be partly cloudy Saturday and mostly sunny Sunday. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s, gradually increasing into the beginning of next week. Rain chances stand at less than 10% for the weekend.
