KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 7.13.18.
TODAY: Friday will be partly cloudy with a 10% chance of rain. Showers are possible this afternoon and evening, and they will be isolated in nature. More widespread rain chances will favor the west and northwest South Plains. Keep your eyes to the sky! When thunder roars, go indoors. The temperatures will be seasonable today in the low to mid 90s, cooler west and warmer east. The forecast high for Lubbock is 94 degrees.
THIS WEEKEND: Saturday will start partly cloudy with isolated showers possible through the early afternoon. Then the sky will gradually clear and temperatures will rise to the mid 90s. The forecast high for Lubbock Saturday is 95 degrees. Sunday will be mostly sunny and temperatures will make it to the mid to upper 90s, at 96 in Lubbock. Winds should be light and from the south all weekend.
LOOKING AHEAD: Next week starts hot and dry. The first half of the week we expect upper 90s and plenty of sun. Remember your heat safety tips! Wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water!
