KAMC HD Storm Team Weather Webcast 7.18.18

KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 7.18.18.

TODAY: Wednesday will likely bring the first 100 degree day for the month of July so far. The forecast for Lubbock is 102 degrees. Expect 99 to just over 100 degrees on the Caprock, and 100-105 east of the Caprock today. The sky will be mostly clear and the wind will be light to breezy 10-15 mph from the southwest.

TOMORROW: Even more heat is expected Thursday! The forecast for Lubbock is 103 degrees, and the entire South Plains has the chance to meet at least 100. The sky will continue to stay mostly cloud free. These temperatures will likely stay below heat advisory criteria this week, but regardless, this heat can be dangerous to the body. Children, elderly, and pets are especially vulnerable to heat related illness and injury.

THIS WEEKEND: Yes, temperatures will likely stay just over 100 degrees through the weekend. If you have any plans outdoors, bring extra water, apply sunscreen, and take breaks in the shade! Avoid strenuous activities outside in the afternoon the next few days. Consider getting the work done in the morning hours when temperatures are in the 70s.
