KAMC’s Storm Team Meteorologist Alex O’Brien has the forecast for 7.19.18.

HEAT ADVISORY: From noon to 9 pm on Thursday, July 19, a heat advisory is in effect for the entire Texas South Plains and Lea county in New Mexico. Temperatures will reach up to 105-110 degrees this afternoon. Hot temperatures will increase the threat for heat related illness.

TODAY: A HOT day is in store. Limit your time outdoors between the hours of noon and 9 pm when the heat will be most dangerous to your health. The forecast for Lubbock today is 106 degrees. All of the South Plains has the potential to reach 105 to 110 degrees today, but the hottest conditions will be felt within urban areas and east of the Caprock. Expect sunshine today with light to breezy wind from the south. Overnight low will drop to the mid 70s.
